| How to Audition | |
|
PREPARATION You need to prepare a combination of song and appropriate monologue (either comedic or dramatic, depending on the production you are auditioning for).
Prepare sixteen (16) measures of your song. A piano and CD player will be available on site. Participants may bring a CD of music, sing a capella, or may sing from sheet music provided they have their own guest accompanist with them. An accompanist from the staff will not be available.
The directing staff does ask that your choice of song be in the style of the show. Contemporary musical numbers will likely not give as best an insight into your performance abilities.
At your choice, you may also bring a headshot and resume, though this is not needed. Please bring your appointment calendars on that day so that you are prepared to state any rehearsal conflicts you may anticipate.
SCRIPT PREVIEW
For each production we hold a Script Preview Open House where potential cast members can meet the director and their production staff. On this evening, participants will review the script, learn the characteristics of the show and hear about the director’s concept.
It is not a requirement to attend this night for auditions, but past participants have found this a particularly useful vehicle as they prepare for the audition.
AUDITIONS
Ed Eblin of the Backstage Investment Group handles all audition scheduling. Please email him at xxx to schedule. Participants must complete all paperwork, including dates of availability, by the date of auditions.
