Dark Woods looks for strong and well-experienced performers that can handle the outside environment. No DIVA's allowed here. We are all equals out here and because of that we are a close-knit family - which we are always looking to expand. To audition for Dark Woods you should be able to show your enthusiasm for our company. We want someone who is willing to pitch in and help where-ever it is needed. While strong talent is necessary, we will often cast someone with enthusiasm before we will cast an experienced performer. The demands of performing outside require an actor that is very comfortable with their performance skills and know their body well. Outside productions have many more distractions than traditional theatre. It is not uncommon to have a fly buzzing around you while you try to sing your big solo number. Additionally, many of our performers wear headsets due to the heavy use of special effects in our productions. That means you'll have a mic pack on your back, a headset in your ear and probably a flashlight or two in your belt. If you can't perform within those requirements, you should start out light - be a part of the chorus or take a non-speaking role. Once you've been out there for a production, you'll start to see what you need to brush up on before auditioning for a lead role. But don't let this scare you off - while it is a challenging experience it's also a rewarding one. Our performers come back year after year because they enjoy doing it that much. All performers for Dark Woods receive a contract pay rate that is usually listed within the audition reservation. |
